PLANT BASED PROTEINS

One thing is for sure that protein is an important part of our diets and there are so many sources out there.

Why do I like plant-based protein?

Because it is more easily digestible. Being easier on the stomach, my tummy thanks you. It has a more alkaline level that is good for your body. Plus, it contains antioxidants and enzymes you just can’t get from animal-based proteins.
Many people that are big proponents of whey protein powders (and likely haven’t equipped themselves with the proper knowledge of plant-based proteins) will claim that plant-based protein powders don’t contain the amino acids that are available in whey protein. Well, I beg to differ:

Pea protein

Pea protein is a high fiber, low calorie and nutrient dense SUPERFOOD that is a remarkable source of plant-based proteins and amino acids. Protein from peas satisfies all FAO essential amino acid requirements. The amino acids found in peas include Lysine, Arginine, Glutamine, Leucine, Isoleucine & Valine (Branched Chain Amino Acids – BCAAs)
  • Aid in muscle tissue maintenance
  • Comparable to egg and milk proteins
  • BCAAs are higher in pea protein than any other vegetable protein
  • Helps restore nitrogen balance after intense physiological stress
  • Increases muscle mass while reducing body fat during intense exercise
  • Improves vasodilation and promotes a healthy heart
  • Assists in maintaining lean body mass
  • Facilitates calcium absorption (promoting healthy bone development in children)
  • Boosts the immune system: producing antibodies, hormones, enzymes, collagen, and tissue-repair
  • Low in sulfur proteins (sulfur proteins speed up the aging process)
  • Increases metabolism and satiety (helping you to feel “full”)
  • Natural tonic for preventing and treating high blood pressure
  • Promotes healthy kidney function

Cranberry Protein

Cranberry protein is unique in that it is the only 100% plant protein that contains 25% protein, including all essential amino acids. Cranberry protein is extracted using a cold-pressed technology that preserves natural balances and naturally occurring fatty acids, which increases the absorption of the other nutrients.
  • Powerful detoxifier and diuretic (flushes out the kidneys)
  • Treats bladder, kidney and urinary problems
  • Boosts immune system, protecting against influenza and the common cold
  • Increases “good” cholesterol (HDL) and reduces “bad” cholesterol (LDL)
  • Improves circulation and reduces risk of heart disease
  • Helps to relieve stress & depression
  • Treats skin conditions such as: acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, burns & wounds
  • Also considered one of the best remedies for REDUCING CELLULITE!!

Who is arbonne?

Arbonne is a Swiss health and wellness company that specializes in high-grade botanical-based products. They are more well-known for their skin care lines but what many don’t know is they have one the best quality wellness products also. There are several vegan protein powders out there. Here is why I love Arbonne.
  • It is made with pea protein, cranberry protein and rice protein. Arbonne calls it a “Protein Matrix Blend”.
  • It is sweetened with Stevia (which is a natural sweetner) and sugar cane (once again, natural). In other words, it not contain lab-manipulated sweetner.
  • One serving contains 20 grams of vegan protein.
  • It is low calorie.
  • It is low-fat…NO saturated/trans fat.
  • It contains no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors.
  • It contains over 20 essential vitamins and minerals.
  • It’s fantastic tasting.
  • It has what’s they call a “Inner G-Plex” — Coenzyme Q10, alfalfa, kelp, and ginseng. All great stuff!

Why do some people prefer whey over vegan?

When I did a ton of research comparing the two (and I recommend you do the same), the two biggest reasons were:
  • Cost
  • Hard to find
One important fact to realize is that whey is not regulated in the US. It has been tested and found to contain metals that are harmful and cause problems with digestion. It is cheap to produce and turned around and sold for a high price. It is a major contributor to intestinal toximia which can lead to IBS or Crohn's disease. Yes, it is hard to find a good quality vegan protein powder out there. But they do exist! Walk into GNC and ask to see their vegan protein powders and you’ll be led to a corner with just a couple shelves that have it. And it will be expensive.
You can only buy Arbonne products shipped directly to you from their warehouse below .
The cost can’t be beat. This is equivalent to $2.00 per day and includes tax & shipping (in the continental US).
